On The Shelf » Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Tomas Alfredson's big screen version of John le Carré's (totally brilliant) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy doesn't open in the States until December 9th which means there is absolutely time for you to pick up the novel and spend the better part of an afternoon devouring it – it's that good.  Obviously the most desirable edition is Paul Smith's, signed by the author, and based on one of the four posters Smith designed specially for the film, to which he also served as creative consultant advising on London in the '70s.  Of course if you decide to read the whole trilogy you may prefer a set of paperbacks from le Carré's new publisher, Penguin.  Either way, you can't go wrong.  Unlike the secret villain in the Circus...
